These three delightful newly restored, spacious, beamed cottages
standing at 900 feet above sea level overlooking some of the most spectacular
scenery in the Peak National Park. |

Monks Memories sleeps 2 and is on the right in the
photograph. It is single storey having a double bedroom with en suite bathroom
with bath and shower over.The fully fitted kitchen has an electric cooker,
fridge, microwave etc. and laundry facilities are available in a well equipped
communal laundry room. The comfortable sitting room has a digital TV with video
player and a dining area with views overlooking the gardens. |

The entire cottage has been lovingly restored to maintain its rustic charm while offering all the amenities for modern day comfort with oil-fired central heating throughout and additional log burning and flame-effect stove in the sitting room. The cottage is suitable for the less able having category 3 disabled access though anyone can enjoy its country character and rest in comfort and luxury under the duvet in the iron bedstead. |

Friars Folly sleeps 4 and is the middle cottage of the three. It has an entrance lobby, a fitted kitchen with fridge, microwave, electric cooker etc. and a dining area. A rustic pole supports the dark oak beam in the lounge. Windows with window seats and limestone lintels look out over the gardens to the hills beyond. Between the alcoves stands a cast iron stove and digital TV with video player. |

From the lounge a three stage staircase gives access
to the landing for the two bedrooms, one a double with luxury iron bedstead and
one twin. Both bedrooms have very old oak beams and trusses preserved in their
medieval state and also off the landing is the bathroom with bath, power
shower, toilet, wash basin and more beams. |

Abbots Abode sleeps 4 + 2 children and is the largest of the Monks Retreat cottages. It has a large dining kitchen with fitted units, electric cooker, fridge/freezer. dishwasher, microwave oven etc. at one side and an oak dining table and chairs at the other with a peninsular unit in between. In this split level cottage you go down three steps into the spacious sitting room which has a low beamed ceiling and large window giving views over the garden to the hills beyond. The cosy feel is completed by a cast iron stove and a digital TV with video player. |

A short staircase leads to a twin bedded room with superb views
down the length of Monksdale. This room has enormous oak trusses and a short
ladder leads to a gallery where there are two single beds.The double bedroom
also has huge beams, a luxury iron bedstead and wonderful views of Millers
Dale. The bathroom has a bath with shower over and a washbain and toilet. |

Each of the cottages is individual in character and maintains its
own privacy but together they make an ideal base for a larger party or group of
familes and the dining area in Abbots Abode is large enough for the whole of
such a group to relax over a meal together. |
