A leafy lane of 300 metres leads down to the small hamlet of Millers Dale, nestling beneath woods on the banks of the River Wye. As the name suggests there used to be a corn mill driven by a water wheel on the river. The wheel can still be seen beside the old miller's cottage built in 1740 by the tiny church of St Ann. Here can also be found the Anglers Rest pub, serving real ale and good food. From here stroll by the side of the river, see trout jumping and water voles, to the water fowl sanctuary in the delightfully named Water-Cum-Jolly Dale. |
